His author journey began when he set out to create a special 90th‑birthday gift for his grandmother. That project became The Curious Tales of Nanook of the North, a children’s picture book he self‑published in 2024, inspired by the story of how his youngest son discovered the origins of her nickname. 

The process reignited a creative spark he hadn’t felt since his early twenties. Soon, ideas poured from his imagination onto the page, and he hasn’t stopped since.

Matthew now writes across children’s books, spooky stories and fantasy tales, releasing a growing collection of tales into the world.

A huge fan of both horror and fantasy, from both the page and the screen, Matthew finds himself spending his free time creating or consuming as many stories as he can.

When he's not creating stories, reading books or watching movies, he enjoys spending time with his family, eating his body weight in Marmite on toast or sitting around a table in a land of make-believe rolling dice.

Matthew also hosts Shivers and Spines the podcast, a podcast where he invites other independent authors to chat about their spooky books and self publishing experiences.
